Rifleman Pietro Lluellyn Gordon ("Peter") Tarchetti was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the Second World War.
He was born in 1909, at St George, the eldest son of Italian-born waiter Tranquillo and Annie Florence Tarchetti (née Hammant), a registered midwife of Ashford.
Tarchetti, a rifleman with the 9th Cameronians, died on 2 July 1940, when the passenger ship SS Arandora Star was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-47 off Ireland. More than 800 passengers and crew perished, many of whom were German and Italian internees being transported to Canada.
He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Brookwood Memorial.
