Corporal Peter Adolf Max Brodnitz was a soldier of the British Army who died during the Second World War.

He was born in Darmstadt, the son of physician Siegfried and Otillie Brodnitz (née Trier). Although culturally assimilated, his family were greatly affected by the antisemitic policies of the Nazis. Brodnitz, who had studied law at Heidelberg, left in 1935 for Kenya to work for Messrs. Smith Mackenzie and Company. His parents remained in Germany and were murdered during the Holocaust, at Theresienstadt concentration camp, in September 1942.[1][2]

Aged 32, Brodnitz died on 29 December 1943, during the Italian Campaign, while serving with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). He was posthumously mentioned in despatches.

He is buried in Sangro River War Cemetery.
