Stoker 1st Class Joseph Patrick Brunt was an Irish sailor of the Royal Navy who died during the Second World War.
He was born the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Brunt, of Waterford, County Waterford.
Aged 22, Brunt died on 17 September 1939, when the German U-boat U-29 torpedoed and sunk the aircraft carrier HMS Courageous off Ireland, with the loss of more than 500 crew.
He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
