Private James Leonard Krause was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.

He was born in 1896, in Middlesbrough, the son of German-born labourer Charles, originally of British-administered Heligoland, and Ada Krause (née Parker), of Guisborough. At the time of the 1911 census, the younger Krause was working as a servant while living with his family at 35 Beech Street.

Krause died on 22 March 1918, during Germany's Spring Offensive on the Western Front, while serving with the 13th (Service) Battalion, Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment).

He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Arras Memorial.
