Corporal Jacob Cecil ('Jack') Maissel was an Irish-born soldier of the British Army who died during the Second World War.
He was born in Limerick, Ireland, the son of Lithuanian-born parents Maurice and Fanny Rosey Maissel. At the time of his enlistment, Maissel claimed his birthplace to be London.
Aged 28, Maissel died on 9 September 1943, on the day of the Salerno landings, while serving with the 2/6th Battalion, The Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey).
He is buried in Salerno War Cemetery.
