Sergeant Israel Winberg was an English airman of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died during the Second World War.
He was born on 24 November 1911, in Sunderland, the son of Morris and Anna Winberg (née Tinn). In 1939, Winberg was working as a commercial traveller in furniture manufacturing.[1]
Aged 28, Winberg, of 110 Squadron, died on 24 July 1940, when his Bristol Blenheim (serial R3748) crashed into the North Sea while engaged on a mission to bomb the airfield at Bernburg, Germany.[2]
The three crew have no known grave and are commemorated by the Runnymede Memorial.
