Flight Lieutenant Htin Yain Lao was a Burmese officer of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

He was born in 1919, the son of Lao Ah Sou and Lao Daw Myr Thwe.

Aged 25, Lao, serving as a pilot in 257 (Burma) Squadron, died on 20 January 1945 when his Hawker Typhoon (RB319) was lost in bad weather while engaged in a reconnaisance mission south-west of Utrecht.[1] He had married, in 1944, to Elizabeth May Tidbury, with whom he had one child, David.

Lao is buried in Dordrecht General Cemetery, The Netherlands.
