Private Gustav Henry Stechmann was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.

He was born in 1895, in Barton-upon-Urwell, the son of German-born Garlef Heinrich, a a manufacturer of tobacco cigarettes, and Sarah Stechmann (née Goode), of Quinton. At the time of the 1911 Census, Stechmann was apprenticing as an electrical engineer while living with his family at The Dale, Westbourne Park.

Stechmann died on 14 June 1917, of cerebral meningitis, while serving on the Western Front with the 2nd Infantry Labour Corps, The Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment).[1] The company was one of a number of units formed predominantly by the offspring of 'enemy aliens'.

He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.
