Second Lieutenant Ernest Henry Lifetree was an English officer of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1893, in Islington, the only child of moulding manufacturer Emil and Florence Lifetree (née Susman), both of London. The younger Lifetree was educated at University College School and the Ecole de Commerce, of Lausanne, Switzerland.[1] He enlisted in October 1915, as an other rank in the Honourable Artillery Company, with which he experienced his initial service on the Western Front.[2]
Lifetree was commissioned into the 16th (Service) Battalion (Chatsworth Rifles), The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) in April 1916. He died less than a month later, on 20 May, while serving with the battalion on the Western Front.
He is buried in Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy.
