Lieutenant Einar Alfred Louis Newman was an officer of the British Army who died during the Second World War.
He was born on 26 March 1908, at Reykjavík, Iceland, the son of Albert George, a British employee of Marconi, and Ingigerdur Newman, local to the area. The family settled in England prior to the 1911 Census, at which time Albert was officer in charge of a General Post Office wireless telegraph station on the Isle of Wight.
Newman was commissioned on 31 August 1940, in the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). He died on 27 October 1942, during the Second Battle of El Alamein, while serving in North Africa with the 7th Black Watch.
He is buried in El Alamein War Cemetery.
