Private Charles Abela was a Maltese soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in the British colony of Malta, the son of Charles and Mary Abela, of Cospicua, and husband to Maria.
Abela died on 2 March 1916, on the Western Front, while serving with the 15th (Service) Battalion (1st Birkenhead), The Cheshire Regiment - a so-called 'bantam' battalion that consisted of soldiers below the army's minimum height requirements.
He is buried in Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy.
