Assistant Steward Carmelo Grech was a Maltese sailor of the Royal Navy who died during the Second World War.
He was born in Malta, the son of Benedict and Agathe Grech, and the husband of Mary Borg.
Aged 26, Grech died on 21 November 1939, when the G-class destroyer HMS Gipsy struck a naval mine outside the port of Harwich, England, with the loss of 30 crew.
He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
