Second Lieutenant Alexander William Fischer was an English officer of the British Army who died during the First World War.

He was born in Wandsworth, the son of German-born company secretary William and Clara Martha Fischer (née Russell). An undergraduate at Caius College, Fischer enlisted on 5 August 1914, the day that Britain declared war, in the Artists Rifles.[1]

Fischer was commissioned on 1 January 1915, in the 1st Battalion, The Devonshire Regiment.[2] He died on 12 May 1916, of wounds received on the Western Front, while serving with the regiment's 8th Battalion. Fischer had been mentioned in despatches.

He is buried in La Neuville Communal Cemetery, Corbie.
